People do not light a candle and then hide it, but place it on a candlestick, so it may shine for everyone. Matt 5:15.
In this day and age there seems to be many ideas about God. I've noticed that it ranges from atheistic "There is no God, to the egotistic "I am God". Most people fall somewhere in between. Of the people who believe in God the have a rather impersonal viewpoint, from an almighty figure ruling from Heaven to a mysterious figure found in nature. I guess this is fine but I wanted more...
For lo, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:21
I didn't want to settle for precepts of an aloof, faraway God. Why wait for death and the oblique promise from outside sources? If the Kingdom is within, then let's go for it! Riches and fame are unnecessary, it's free, but it does take effort...
You have eyes and do not see and you have ears and you do not hear, neither do you remember. Mark 8:18
Unfortunately, it appears that everything in creation has a design flaw. The baubles and charms of the world are nice but just don't give that lasting satisfaction. It makes sense, if the world gave lasting happiness no one would go within to seek the creator- the divine master. So it's very odd, the very things we crave provide only temporary satisfaction, but then upon further thinking it has to be that way. So I guess life is like an amusement park, it's really fun at first but after awhile gets annoying.
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matt 7:13
I know it's not going to appeal to everybody. Promising something outside the realm of the five senses is probably not going to be very popular for obvious reasons. The "mass marketing-one size fits all" approach in order to reach the lowest common denominator excludes the many special niches of interested. Plus, there is little money to made in something that can be had for free, even though it is where true riches can be found. Everything else can be taken away, but faith is yours forever.
